After interviewing three builders, it was a easy decision to engage Steve Haycock Construction to build our house at Omaha. Steve and his foreman, Mike Ingham, were great to deal with. There was a lot of consultation. They were pleasant, courteous and always willing to take time to talk through any aspect of the build. No problem was too big or small to deal with. There were some complex details in our house and not only were they eager to take on the challenges, they delivered an outstanding result. Steve is highly organised with strong project management skills. Steve project managed the build with our architect, Matt Fitzgerald of Ponting Fitzgerald. They were both professional and respectful of each other. When problems arose during the building process (as inevitably happens) they worked collaboratively to offer up the best solutions or options to deal with issues. Steve provided a timeline for the build prior to starting. Apart from a delay that was beyond his control, it was remarkably accurate. The timeline was a useful tool for us to moderate our expectations and give us an idea of the stages of the building process. We have ended up with a beautiful house that has been built with great care by builders who take pride in their workmanship. We were pleasantly surprised at the end of the build to realise what a relatively stress-free process it had been. We highly recommend Steve Haycock Construction to anyone planning to build in the Rodney area.

The remodelling of our 20 year old family bach took nearly a year to complete yet it was a positive and stress free experience thanks to the professionalism of Steve Haycock and foreman Phil Isted. Building a home is a difficult challenge for anyone, building a complex home when you are on the other side of the world in the United Kingdom for the first six months of the build is a real challenge. Friends told us that we must be mad but having a contractor with great skill and an understanding that it is your home – not just a house – is a rare find and with Steve Haycock and his team we felt truly blessed. From day one of a 12 month build with the amazing Mike Ingham running the site, we knew we were in good and caring hands. I (Bernard) have built many major high quality retail projects around the word and am very demanding on standards. It is not often I can say that something has exceeded my standards – however, our new home has. We had no cross words, because Steve and the team gave no reason to have any arguments, they were always on the front foot, inventive, precise and nothing was too much trouble. When we embarked on building our new beach house it was with some trepidation. Whilst we had completed renovations previously, we had never built from scratch and it was a big undertaking.This was going to be our dream home - part of the 10 year plan. We had put hours of our heart and soul into the design and preparation and wanted to know the finished home would meet our expectations. I remember meeting Steve Haycock for the first time at our architects office and one of the first things he said was " I want you to enjoy the building process - seeing your house come to life", and he lived up to those words. It was reassuring to be kept informed on progress and costs along the way and we always felt under control. At the end of the day we are absolutely happy with the house . Steve delivered the finished house exactly how we had imagined - our dream fulfilled.
